Year-end Party: Fu Eng Night Night Chill
By Libby Hsieh
A year-end pajama party held by the Student Association for English Department took place at Goodday, a Mexican restaurant, on the 30th of November. It was a “chill” night for students to gather, relax, have fun, and get to know each other.
The theme was sleepovers with a dress code: pajamas. Students came in various costumes and outfits. Some wore onesies and others wore casual t-shirts with trousers. But one attendee wore lingerie, causing a stir among the crowd. According to the coordinator, Charles Tang, “The English Department is a big family. A home is a place where one can completely relax, and family members can also meet in their most natural state. We hope that everyone who can attend the event will be in the most comfortable state, just like being with family, so we chose the theme of pajamas.”

The Student Association invited some fourth-grade volunteers to perform with everyone. The performances included several cute and sweet dances, such as “She huei Yao” by Siao Chuyan, “Step, Step, Step” by Jiou Yueh Chi Ji (玖月奇跡), “What’s Wrong!” by Beauty Lo, and “Witch Doctor” by Cartoons. This year, the freshmen were very active with a desire to perform. Mina sang Cardi B’s “Bodak Yellow,” Mia, Elffie, and Aubrey sang “Shut Up and Dance” by Walk the Moon. Paul and Howard presented romantic songs such as “I didn’t love you for the weather is sunny” by Bestards mixed with “Sunny Day” by Jay Chou.
Attendees also played games, with gestures as the game of the night. However, this year had more attendees than usual, so some attendees found it quite boring to wait for other groups to finish playing the game. Therefore, some tables decided to order beer, and others started playing Never Have I Ever.
Finally, the party ended with “I love me better” by Lauv and led by Zoe Kuo and Clare Kao. The song was selected by votes several weeks before the party. Everyone was asked to gather and sing the theme song, demonstrating their love of their friends and of the department.
